Exploring high schools

Navigate to High Schools and you'll land on the Explore tab. This is a table showing high schools in Scoir's network. From here you can search for schools by name, apply filters to narrow your list, customize which data columns appear, and save searches to return to later. When you're ready to schedule, you can click a school's next available visit date directly in the table to go to the Calendar tab to view open slots and register.

Hover over a school name and click View to open a details panel for that school. From there you can see school details, demographics, Scoir engagement data by class year, upcoming visit availability, and post-secondary enrollment. You can also message the school's counselor(s) directly from the panel, which is useful if a school hasn't posted any availability yet and you want to request a visit.

From the top right of the table you can access Filters, Columns, Views, Export, and View in Map, each of which is covered in the sections below.

Marking target schools

As you browse, you can mark schools as targets to keep track of the ones you're prioritizing. You can do this from a school's detail panel or directly from the table.

Once you've built up a list, use the filter to show only your target schools so they're always easy to find.

Marking a school as a target also turns on notifications. By default, you'll receive an email and in-app alert as soon as a target school posts new visit availability. To adjust this, update your preferences on the Settings page by clicking Welcome in the top right corner of your screen. You can switch to a daily digest, a weekly roundup, or turn notifications off entirely.

Filtering your school list

Click Filters to open the filter panel and narrow down schools based on your recruitment goals. You can filter by visit availability and format, school type and religious affiliation, Title I eligibility, location by state, city, geomarket, or locale, student demographics like senior class size and percentage of first generation students, and Scoir engagement data (more on this below).

A few ways you might use filters in practice:

  • You're planning fall travel in the Northeast. Filter by your territory's geomarkets and a specific visit availability window to surface schools with open slots during the weeks you'll be there.
  • Your team has equity-focused recruitment goals. Filter for Title I eligible schools with a rural locale to build a targeted outreach list.
  • You want to prioritize schools where real interest already exists. Use the Scoir Engagement filters to find schools with strong Follower or Handraiser numbers, or where counselors are actively promoting your institution.
Tip: Filters work across both the data table and map layout, so anything you apply in one carries over to the other.

Understanding Scoir engagement data

Scoir surfaces engagement data that helps you understand how students and counselors at a school are interacting with your institution. Each of these can be added as a filter or column. For Handraisers, Followers, and Historic Followers, you can filter by a minimum and maximum number, and customize the column to narrow by class year.

  • Handraisers: Students who have explicitly opted in to share their information with your institution and be contacted by you outside of Scoir. Learn more about Accessing Handraiser data.
  • Followers: Students in grades 9-12 who have marked your institution as following, applying, or applied.
  • Historic Followers: How many seniors expressed interest in your institution in previous cycles. Useful as a benchmark early in the year before current seniors have started engaging heavily.
  • Promoter School: Whether counselors at a school are actively suggesting your institution to their students. You can use this to focus on schools where awareness is strong, or to identify gaps where students are finding you but counselors aren't promoting you yet.

A few ways you might use this data in practice:

  • A school has a high number of Handraisers but isn't marked as a Promoter School. Message the counselor directly from the school's detail panel to share more about your institution and build that relationship.
  • A school's counselors are promoting your institution, but Follower numbers are low. Use Scoir Outreach Messaging to send a message directly to students following your school to raise awareness and spark interest.

Managing your columns

Drill down the information that is relevant to you. Click Columns to open the Column Management panel. From here you can add and remove columns across categories including school details, location, student demographics, student engagement, and post-secondary enrollment. You can also drag and drop columns to reorder how they appear in the table.

Saved Views

A saved view is a snapshot of your filtered search and column layout, so you can return to it any time without reapplying filters or rearranging data.

Everyone starts with a default view called Overview. When you apply filters or adjust your columns, a dot appears on the Overview button and a note tells you that your current view has unsaved changes. You can either revert to the last saved version or save your changes as a new view.

To save a new View:

  1. Apply the filters and column layout you want.
  2. Click Overview in the top right of the table and select Save as New View.
  3. Give it a descriptive name, something like "Boston Territory" or "Title I Outreach", and check Make this my default view if you'd like it to load automatically each time you open the Explore tab. Click Add.
  4. To rename, delete, or change your default view later, click the three-dot menu next to any saved View.

Here are a few ways teams use saved views:

  • Territory work: Save a view filtered by your geomarkets so you're always starting from your region.
  • Travel planning: Build a view with schools available for visits during specific travel dates.
  • Everyday efficiency: Save frequently used searches to cut down on repetitive filtering.
Set your most-used territory search as your default view so it loads automatically every time you access the table.

Switching to a map layout

Click View in Map in the top right of the Explore tab to see your school list plotted on a map. By default, the map shows only schools in Scoir's network,  marked with a blue marker. If you disable the Show only Scoir schools filter, non-Scoir schools will also appear, marked in grey, so you can see every school in a region and plan your travel more efficiently. Any filters you've applied carry over when you switch between the table and the map.

Schools with visit availability show a calendar icon, and clicking it will take you to the Calendar tab to register for that visit.

Scheduling visits

In addition to clicking the calendar icon from a location marker in the map view, you can also select schools from the Explore tab using the checkboxes and click View Visit Calendar to see their availability in the Calendar tab. You can also go straight to the Calendar tab and search for a school by name to browse availability directly.

Note: The select all checkbox only selects schools on the current page. If you need more, increase the rows per page at the bottom of the table before making your selection.

When viewing availability, you'll see a few different visit types:

  • In-person visits are marked with a location icon.
  • Virtual visits are marked with a camera icon.
  • College fairs are marked with a ferris wheel icon and indicate that multiple colleges can register for the same slot.
  • Slots with no icon mean the format is your choice during registration.

For schools offering multi-visit slots, you'll be able to see how many spots are still available before you register. You can also link an external calendar from the Calendar tab to view your own schedule alongside a school's open slots as you're deciding what to book.

For a full walkthrough of how to register, manage, and unregister from visits, see Scheduling High School Visits.

Exporting data for CRM Integration

Any saved view can be exported as a CSV, making it easy to bring Scoir's school data into your CRM alongside your existing recruitment and funnel data.

You may wish to export all Scoir schools or just certain saved views. All rows within your current view will be included in the export.

Tip: Use Column Management to control the columns included in your export file, as well as the order in which the columns appear.

Once imported into a tool like Slate, you can create custom fields on organization records to store engagement data, geomarket designations, and demographic indicators your whole team can reference. At a minimum, marking schools as Scoir schools in your CRM gives your team instant visibility into which scheduling platform to use when booking visits.
