Students: How to Add an Alternate Email or Change Your Primary Email

Scoir lets you add a backup email or update your primary email at any time. This article explains each step, including how it looks on a mobile browser.

Important: Alternate emails must be added through a web browser (on a computer, phone, or tablet). This option isn’t available in the Scoir mobile app.

A Few Things to Know First

  • Each email can only be used once in Scoir.
  • You can only link your account to your high school using one email address.
  • If you already created a separate Scoir account using an email you want to make your new primary, you won’t be able to use it again unless Scoir Support deletes that old account. If this happens, contact our Customer Support team for assistance.

Updating Your Email on a Computer (or Desktop Browser)

  1. Log into Scoir at app.scoir.com in a web browser, then click Me at the top of the page and choose View Profile from the menu to open your profile.
  2. In your Personal Details section, look under Account to see your current email(s).
  3. Click + Add Alternate Email, enter the new email you want to add, and choose whether you want notifications sent to it. Click Done when you’re finished.
  4. You’ll see an “Awaiting Validation” message under the new email. If the email looks correct, click Close. If you want to change it, click Delete Backup Email and enter a different one.
  5. Scoir will send a verification email to the new address you just added. Open the inbox for that email and click the verification link. If you’re asked to sign in, make sure to use your current primary email and password.
    Please note: Don’t use “Login with Gmail” for this step. It can prevent the verification from working.
  1. If you don’t see the email after a few minutes, click Resend on your profile to send a new one.
  2. Once the email is successfully verified, you'll get this confirmation email in your account.
  3. Go back to your profile and look under Account. If you want to use this new email as your login, click Make Primary. If not, you can leave it as a backup.
    If you do make it primary, this becomes the email you’ll use to log into Scoir going forward.
  1. If you want to remove your old email, click the pencil icon next to it and select Delete Backup Email. Otherwise, you can just leave it in place as a backup.
Important reminder: Once you select an email as primary, your Scoir login will be changed to the new email as your USER ID. You will need to login to Scoir with this new primary email address going forward.

Updating Your Email from a Mobile Browser

You can add an alternate email on your phone or tablet as long as you’re using a web browser (not the Scoir mobile app). Because the screen is smaller, the steps look a little different from the desktop version. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open your mobile browser and go to app.scoir.com, then log in as usual.
  2. Once you’re signed in, tap the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner of the screen to open the menu.
  3. In the menu, tap View Profile.
  4. When your profile page opens, scroll down to the Account section and tap the pencil icon next to your email address.
  5. This will open a screen where you can add an alternate email. After you save it, Scoir will send a verification email to that new address so you can confirm it.

Once the alternate email is verified, you can return to your profile to make it your primary email if you’d like.
