For Colleges: Configuring your application

Customer Support Team Updated by Customer Support Team

This article only applies to colleges participating in Apply Coalition with Scoir. Only users with the Application Manager role will be able to make changes on the Configure page.

Application Configuration lets you control which applicant types you accept, which sections of the Application Profile (Part 1) students must complete, fee waiver details, and any special instructions or information for applicants.

To get started, go to Application > Configure and click Edit Configuration in the upper right hand corner.

Choose which applicant types your college wishes to accept from Scoir — First Year, Transfer, or both. You can enable or disable these by using the toggle.

Application Profile

Sections

Choose the sections your college wants the applicant to complete. The configurable sections are shown first and can be checked or unchecked depending on whether you'd like to receive that information.

Core sections are all set to required and cannot be edited, as shown below:

For a detailed breakdown about what information is collected in each section of Application Details, request the Application Profile Specification Guide — the data dictionary that documents every question and answer value in part 1 of the application.

SAT/ACT

In this section, you'll set your institution's standardized test policy and indicate whether or not your school allows for or requires self reported test scores. You can also indicate if you would like to include SAT/ACT scores in the Application Profile PDFs. Note that the option to include SAT/ACT scores will be selected by default.

There are three options for the standardized test policy:

  1. Requires Scores
  2. Test Optional
  3. Test Blind

To indicate your institution is test optional, you must set your Standardized Test Policy to 'Test-Optional.' If your school will accept self-reported test scores, you must then select the checkbox. Both steps need to be completed.

Selecting the 'Accept self-reported test scores via Scoir application' checkbox to 'Yes' when you have selected 'Requires Scores' for your Standardized test policy requires that scores be self-reported.
Selecting the 'Accept self-reported test scores via Scoir ' checkbox to 'Yes' when you have selected 'Test-Optional' for your Standardized test policy makes it optional that scores be self-reported. This indicates that you will also accept test scores through other methods than self-reporting, such as through Scoir.

If you do choose to accept test scores, when students complete their Application Profile, they'll see this:

Indicate any required college essays or additional questions that need to be completed by the applicant. All of this information will be shown to students.

Additional Details is where you can add notes or further instructions about your institution's application requirements, helping students navigate the process after starting their application on Scoir. Being specific here reduces the chance of students initiating prematurely just to see what comes next.
