Transfer & Non-Scoir Students: How many recommendations do I need?

Customer Support Team Updated by Customer Support Team

This article is for students applying through Apply with Scoir independently, meaning your high school doesn't use Scoir. This includes:

  • Students whose high school doesn't use Scoir
  • Transfer students
  • International students

If any of those describe you, you can still request letters of recommendation through Scoir.

Not sure if this applies to you? If you signed up for Scoir on your own (not through an invitation from your school), this article is for you. If you were invited by your school but the steps below do match what you're seeing, reach out to your counselor. It may mean your account isn't properly connected to your school. You can learn more here: How to tell if your account is connected to a Scoir partner school.

Where can I see how many letters are required for each college?

Recommendation requirements are only visible for colleges you've already moved to your Applying or Applied column. If you haven't added the college yet, do that first before following the steps below.

  1. Log into Scoir and navigate to My Colleges.
  2. Find the college you want to review in your Applying or Applied column and click to open the tile (Remember we only show this for Apply with Scoir Colleges!)
  3. Scroll down to the Checklist section. Look for the Recommendations line to see exactly what's required, for example, 2 Teacher Letters of Recommendation and 1 Counselor Evaluation (this is a counselor recommendations, its just called evaluation)

No emails will be sent to your recommenders until you've submitted your application to that college.

Once you know what's needed, you're ready to request your recommendations. See this article to learn how.
