Step 1: Prepare Slate to Receive Data and Documents from Scoir

Scoir and Technolutions have preconfigured source formats that can be added directly to your Slate instance. You will need admin access to your Slate instance to complete these steps.

In this step you will add:

  1. Scoir Service Account — required for all Scoir data delivery. Jump to steps
  2. Source format(s) for the data you want to receive from Scoir. Add the one(s) that apply to your institution:
    1. ScoirMaterials — for receiving application documents, such as transcripts and recommendations. Jump to steps
    2. Scoir Handraisers — for receiving Handraiser data, a daily list of prospective students who have opted in to share their information with your institution. Jump to steps
If you are setting up both document delivery and Handraiser data delivery, you will need to add both source formats.

Add the Scoir Service Account

The Scoir Service Account is required for both document delivery and Handraiser data delivery.

  1. In your Slate instance, navigate to the Slate Template Library located in the Configurations section
  2. In the Slate Template Library, expand the Users section and find the Scoir Service Account. Click Add to include the service account in your Slate instance
  3. A confirmation pop-up will appear. Click Add again to confirm the addition of the Scoir Service Account

The Scoir Service Account has been added. Next, add the source format(s) for the data you want to receive.

What Source Format should I add?

If you want to automate your document downloads from Scoir, add the ScoirMaterials Source Format

If you want to receive handraisers data, add the Scoir Handraisers Source Format

If you want both document automation and handraisers data, add both source formats.

Add the ScoirMaterials Source Format

Required for document delivery

If you already have a DIP Import created for Scoir, you’ll need to inactivate the existing Source Format before using this standardized integration
  1. Return to the Database screen in Slate, then go to the Source Format Library within the Import and Data Processing section
  2. Find the ScoirMaterials Source Format and click Add to include it in your Slate instance
The Scoir CSV has been deprecated, and is no longer required. You will only need to add the ScoirMaterials Source Format.
  3. A confirmation pop-up will appear. Click Add again to confirm the addition of the ScoirMaterials Source Format
You have successfully added the ScoirMaterials Source Format to your Slate instance. Now, let’s move on to making some selections in the ScoirMaterials configuration.
  4. Go back to the Database screen in Slate and open the Source Formats page, which can also be found in the Import and Data Processing section
  5. On the Source Formats page, click the row for the ScoirMaterials Source Format to access its details
  6. On the ScoirMaterials screen, click the Edit button located in the top right corner
  7. On the Edit screen, you will need to adjust two items:
    1. First, navigate to the General tab and set the Remap Active item to Active
    2. Next, set Dedupe Records to Dedupe Records Within Source on First + Last + Email + Birthdate. This will help prevent the creation of duplicate student records
  8. Click Save in the bottom left corner to apply your changes

You have completed the ScoirMaterials setup. If you are also setting up Handraiser data delivery, add the Scoir Handraisers Source Format before continuing. Otherwise, continue to Step 2: Connect Slate and Scoir

Add the Scoir Handraisers Source Format

Required for Handraiser data delivery

The Scoir Handraisers source format tells Slate how to read the Handraiser CSV and map the data to the right fields. Most standard fields map automatically. You will need to create custom fields in Slate for any non-standard data, such as Academic Interest(s).

  1. Return to the Database screen in Slate, then go to the Source Format Library within the Import and Data Processing section.
  2. Find the Scoir Handraisers Source Format and click Add to include it in your Slate instance
  3. A confirmation pop-up will appear. Click Add again to confirm the addition of the Scoir Handraisers Source Format

You have successfully added the Handraisers Source Format to your Slate instance. Now, let’s move on to making some selections in the Scoir Handraisers configuration.

You have completed the Slate setup. Continue to Step 2: Connect Slate and Scoir.
